A National Indigenous Day of Prayer is celebrated officially by our ecumenical partner denominations, the Anglican Church of Canada and the United Church of Canada, and it is supported by our own National Church and our partner organization, KAIROS Canada. It falls on the Sunday closest to June 21, which is National Indigenous Peoples Day, a day for all Canadians to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. On this day Christians give thanks for the wonderful diversity of languages and cultures that all reflect God’s image in humanity.

Worship on this day will include Indigenous hymns and prayers, and scripture readings celebrating the beauty and diversity of the human family.
