Dear Hope family,
With sadness I must announce that all church activities, including Sunday worship, will continue online-only until January 24 when staff and Council will take further consideration.
We make this decision knowing how important our gatherings (for worship and for other small group activities) are for our members. Yet we're also aware of the current realities of the pandemic—omicron spreading exponentially and hospitalizations and ICU admissions rising sharply—that make it less and less safe to be in public spaces for the time being. For the safety of our community we are closing our physical doors until the rate of spread slows and hospitalizations start decreasing again, or at least levelling off. Those are the markers we’ll be looking for as we make further decisions on January 24.
Our online doors, however, continue to be wide open! Sunday worship continues through YouTube and Zoom. Mid-week Text Study and Confirmation continue on Zoom. Check our website for ongoing news, reflections, and connection details: www.hopelutheran.ca
For the coming Sunday, January 16 we’ll be exploring the story of the Wedding at Cana, the third of Jesus’ great epiphanies that we celebrate in this season, when he turned water into wine. It is an image of the Eucharist for us. You are invited to set a table in your home as you worship online, with a little bread and a cup of wine or grape juice. Connection details will be posted on Friday.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in faith so that you overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. - Romans 15:13
