Our National Bishop, Susan Johnson, is inviting the members of the ELCIC to take 2020-21 as a year of renewing our engagement with the Bible. Across the country Bible Book Clubs are being formed to help people read through, and discuss with each other, the Bible.

Here at Hope, Barb Weatherington will be the facilitator of a Bible Book Club which will meet once a month on a Thursday afternoon. The first meeting, to meet each other and get oriented to the project, will be on Thursday, October 1 at 1:30 pm, here in the Fellowship Hall of the church.

In the Bible Book Club, you will read on your own a book of the Bible each month. On the first Thursday you will get together to discuss what you have read with others. Questions that will guide the discussion will be simple and open-ended, for example: What character (of the book) did you like best? What story did you like least? What is a favourite quote and what does it mean for your faith?

The first biblical book the club will tackle is Genesis, a book full of rich and foundational stories for our faith.

Please call the church office if you are interested in taking part in this initiative.
