I have been worshipping at Hope since 2015. I was born (and raised Lutheran) in Bismarck, North Dakota, but came to Canada when I was 25 years old to do a doctorate degree in history. I ended up settling in Calgary and was very happy to eventually attain Canadian citizenship.
I work as a historian, mainly with First Nations peoples in Western Canada on historic land and treaty rights cases. Sometimes I go to court, sometimes I talk to people about the past, but most of the time I spend my days trying to decipher scribbly old archival documents.
I am married to a fellow historian named Peter and together we are raising two boys. I love the Lutheran liturgy, breakfast burritos, memoirs, weight-lifting, skiing and walking on flat ground, dogs, cooking, and adding sourdough discard to things.
