Saturday, May 4th at Hope Lutheran Church, 9:00am – 3:00pm
Each year, congregations in each area of the ABT Synod are invited to gather together to worship,
read the Word, pray, and have conversations, as well as enjoy good food and fellowship. This year’s
gathering for the churches of Southern Alberta (Calgary and area, as well as Lethbridge and region)
will be right here at Hope!
The Area Gathering will be an opportunity to follow up with Bishop Larry’s encouragement to explore
collaborative relationships with other congregations – a time to find out what’s going on around the
Synod, and meet other Lutherans to discover what their challenges and joys in ministry are… and
perhaps to begin developing exciting partnerships. A special joy of this year’s gathering will be to
worship with music that has been specially commissioned for the upcoming Synod convention from
our Synod’s own Ben Urey-Johnson.
This gathering is for all members of Lutheran churches, especially those in positions of leadership like
Council.
Volunteers are needed to host this event. Responsibilities will include setting out coffee and
refreshments, serving and cleaning up after lunch. Please talk to Zena if you are able to help out.
