After a long struggle with chronic illness, Keith Wade Loewen died peacefully at his home on January 19, 2024 in Calgary, Alberta surrounded by his wife and sons.

Born on November 27, 1956, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Keith was the son of Alphonse and Esther Loewen. He is survived by his wife, Janet, sons Erik (Vesper) and Kurt (Chiara), grandchildren Violet and Maeve, and siblings Paulette (Sean) and Scott (Gwen).

He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Arts in History, and later pursued his Masters of Divinity from Lutheran Theological Seminary in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

He began his career as a Pastor at the dual parish of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan and New Stockholm Lutheran Church in Stockholm, Saskatchewan.  Later, he transferred to Faith Lutheran Church in Calgary, Alberta. Feeling the call to social justice, Keith took positions at Calgary Urban Projects Society and eventually Trinity Place Foundation where he made innumerable contributions to helping those in need. Taking care of society's most vulnerable was his passion.

He loved spending time with his wife, children, and grand-children. There was no one with a bigger laugh, and no one matched his wonderful sense of humour and wit. He will be lovingly missed by so many. Finally, he rests.

Funeral Service will be held on January 27, 2024 at 1pm at Hope Lutheran Church (3527 Boulton Road NW, Calgary, Alberta).  The service will be live streamed at hopelutheran.ca.
