Welcome Our New Children & Youth Coordinator — Markus Lee

Hope Lutheran Church is delighted to introduce Markus Lee as our new Part‑time Children & Youth Coordinator, beginning his ministry with us this month.

Markus brings over four years of hands‑on experience in Lutheran children’s and youth ministry, including serving as a Volunteer Teacher for Confirmation classes at Holy Cross Church in Hong Kong from 2020–2023. Each week he planned and led interactive sessions for 12–13‑year‑olds, creating PowerPoint lessons, faith‑centred activities, and a safe, supportive learning environment that helped young people grow in their understanding of God.

In Calgary, Markus volunteered at Vacation Bible School with Calgary Lutheran Unity Mission in Summer 2024, supporting children aged 5–14 through fun, age‑appropriate faith activities and collaborating closely with church staff and volunteers.

Markus is currently a Teaching Assistant for a junior‑level Japanese language class at the University of Calgary, where he supports students from diverse cultural backgrounds and fosters an inclusive classroom environment. His own Hong Kong roots, combined with his Canadian university experience, give him a unique ability to help children and families from different cultures feel welcomed and valued — an important gift as Hope continues to grow in multicultural ministry.

He is reliable, organized, and deeply committed to Lutheran Christian values of belonging, compassion, faithfulness, and grace. Markus will be leading Hope Kids on Sunday mornings and participating fully in our monthly collaborative youth events.

We warmly welcome Markus into our ministry team and look forward to the energy, creativity, and care he will bring to our children, youth, and families.
